Cup hero Rainbow High retires to stud
The Classically-bred and admirably consistent Rainbow High has been retired to Louella Stud in Leicestershire.
Bred and owned by Khalid Abdullah, the seven-year-old nearly pulled off a third Chester Cup victory in May, but had to settle for second behind the younger Fantasy Hill. Rainbow High won the 1999 and 2001 editions of the cup, in addition to the group 3 Jockey Club Cup and two other races. In a six-season career, he was also placed second or third ten times, seven times in Group Company.
Rainbow High’s sire Rainbow Quest and damsire Dancing Brave both won the Arc, and his dam Imaginary is a winning half-sister to Lowther winner Kingscote, herself the dam of a Group 3 winner by Rainbow Quest – Rainbow Corner.

Rainbow High ran 62 miles in 33 starts, winning 5 races and £260,698 including The Jockey Club Stakes Gr.3 and 2 Chester Cups, on the first occasion breaking the course record and on the second carrying a record 9st 13lbs. The Rainbow Hunter, won a Novice handicap chase on his first outing over fences,and placed 4 times over fences. rated 125. Won a handicap hurdle and has been placed twice over hurdles, also won two P –P’s.
Real Treasure, won twice over hurdles and been placed 3 times from 5 starts. Won over fences in Dec 2011 on her 1st attempt over fences and placed from 2 starts.

Indigo Symphony, had been placed in a bumper from only 1 start. Western High, won a bumper at Towcester and placed 3rd from 3 starts Rainbow Haze , 2nd in a bumper at Ludlow. Point to Point WinnersActing Tougher 1 point to point win and 3 placings from 4 starts. Tis Only Drizzle 1 point to point win from 2 starts. High Ron 1 point to point win and 2 placings.
Just Judy, 3 2nds and 1 3rd from 6 point to points ran. Icansingarainbow 3 2nds and 1 3rd placing. Rainbow Haze 3rd on his 1st outing. Has had a very good ratio of winners to runners. In 2010 he covered some well bred winning or dams of winners mares including the dam of Grade 3 chaser, Big Fella Thanks, 4th in this years Grand National.
