Cup hero Rainbow High retires to stud

The Classically-bred and admirably consistent Rainbow High has been retired to Louella Stud in Leicestershire.

Bred and owned by Khalid Abdullah, the seven-year-old nearly pulled off a third Chester Cup victory in May, but had to settle for second behind the younger Fantasy Hill. Rainbow High won the 1999 and 2001 editions of the cup, in addition to the group 3 Jockey Club Cup and two other races. In a six-season career, he was also placed second or third ten times, seven times in Group Company.

Rainbow High’s sire Rainbow Quest and damsire Dancing Brave both won the Arc, and his dam Imaginary is a winning half-sister to Lowther winner Kingscote, herself the dam of a Group 3 winner by Rainbow Quest – Rainbow Corner. He will stand for £1,250, October 1st terms.
