Primitive Star
Grey TB x RID 16.3hh 1998
Sports Horse Son of Primitive Rising
Primitive Star
Bred specifically as a sport horse. Primitive Star was the only 3 year old to pass the stallion grading for SHB (GB) in 2001. He received very high marks for his conformation, i.e. good length of rein, excellent laid back shoulder, deep girth, plenty of good quality bone, sound well shaped feet etc. He possesses great athleticism and is a super mover in all departments; walk, trot and well balanced canter.

He returned for his re-grading with SHB in April 2007. He successfully passed and was awarded Champion Non TB achieving the highest score over all. His jumping ability is exceptional; he scored an impressive 9/10 for his jumping at both gradings. He possesses a huge, careful jump with excellent technique.

2007 saw Primitive Star starting a new career with great success. He started his dressage training in November 2006. He went to his 1st competition in December 2006 and has been placed virtually every outing since. He is competing and winning at Novice and Elementary level and is working at Medium at home. He is making fantastic progress considering he only competes out of the stud season.

Primitive Star has Qualified for the Winter Novice Freestyle to Music Regional championships (February 08). At his area festival in September 2007 he was 3rd in the Novice and 4th in the Elementary. He qualified for the National winter championships in February 08. He currently has over 100 dressage points. His rider, Craig Millard thinks this is quite something in such as short space of time. Craig feels that Primitive Star will go far with his dressage because of his outstanding temperament, correct paces and his willingness to learn.

Primitive Star is a handsome individual and we have targeted him at the 3 Day Event market. TB or TB types are the mares for him and in our opinion you could produce something very worthwhile.

Above all his temperament is absolutely perfect, he is so easy to handle and learns very quickly. An absolute gentleman and a pleasure to own.

Sire: Primitive Rising
His sire is the illustrious Primitive Rising, who has proved himself time and time again in the event field and National Hunt racing.

National Hunt sire of winners of over 70 races including a 1st & 2nd at the Cheltenham Festival 2002, Primitive Rising was a leading National Hunt sire with offspring such as Moor Lane, Paperising, Suprising and Go Informal.

He was also a prolific sire of eventers, winning 8 British Horse Foundation Awards and siring the winner of the Burghley Young Event Horse on 5 occasions. His advanced horses include Primitive Control (6th Badminton, 7th Burghley, competed for GB at the 2002 European championships), Primitive Streak (8th Bramham and Necarne), Jurassic Rising (3rd & 4th Bramham, 1st Blenheim, 5th Le Lion d'angers) and Limestone Rise (5th Chatsworth). He is also the sire of Port Patrick who was bred by Louella; a multiple hunter champion including top UK bred 4 yr old at the Royal Show 2005.

Dam: Orchid Star
His dam is the registered Irish Draught mare Orchid Star, she is in our view, the best of this breed we have ever come across and all her foals are out of the top drawer. She was by the lovely Gort Boy, sire of many show winners. Orchid Star was lightly shown as a broodmare; her wins included The Royal Show and Market Bosworth. She sadly died at the age of 9 in 2000 but she gave us 6 fantastic foals.
Her progeny include:

Orchids Twice As Nice by Lord David S
In hand champion who has gone on to be a successful Heavyweight Show Hunter and Working Hunter.

Primitive Posy by Primitive Rising, full sister to Primitive Star
