Since the founding of Louella Stud by the late Louis Massarella in 1934, we have always strived to produce versatile stock that will find success in every discipline. This continues to the present day.

We had a great start to 2008. We were thrilled to receive a Life Time achievement award for our outstanding contribution to British Breeding in 2008 from the British Breeding Breeders Awards.

Primitive Star, who was specifically bred for the job, and the young event sire Primitive Proposal are both worthy successors to continue the prolific line of the great Primitive Rising. Both stallions have successfully combined their stud duties with competition work. Primitive Proposal has already made a name for himself as a leading sire of show Horses and Primitive Star, who was sport horse champion, 2007 already has young horses making a mark on the eventing circuit, whilst he is excelling at dressage.

The young racehorse sires Rainbow High and Denounce are two of the best looking horses you could wish to see. We have no doubt that, with their pedigree and ability, their stock will be a success on the track and in the competition world.

Horses like Rainbow High are hard to come by, when one considers that he raced from 2 to 7 yrs (62 miles on the track) and retired perfectly sound in wind and limb. His first runners have been impressive.

Denounce was personally recommended to us by his trainer Henry Cecil, whom had considered him to be a definite Group winning prospect until he met with an unfortunate and serious injury. Denounce is an attractive proposition for breeders to tap into some of the top bloodlines in Europe.

Our new sprint Stallion Calcutta was as tough as they come. He raced until he was 10 and retires perfectly sound. We are pleased to say that his 1st crop of foals have been a very good lot of foals.

Nomadic Way needs no introduction. He is a lovely horse and has become a leading U.K sire of jumpers. He was the sire of Himalayan Trail who stormed home in the 2008 John Smiths Midland Grand National.

With 130 acres of prime, well managed pasture, including 57 indoor stables, 2 indoor schools, a horse walker and 2 wash boxes, we are in an excellent position to offer a number of additional services to our clients. These include: foal and yearling sales preparation, weaning and handling of youngsters, rest and recuperation, breaking in, long term and permanent boarding, and foaling.

We welcome you to our website and hope you enjoy browsing through it. You are welcome to come and visit us at the stud near Coalville, Leicestershire, but please contact us in advance to make an appointment.
