1st August 2010Primitive Prospect wins againThis 6yo gelding bred by Louella by Primitive Proposal won his Novice section at Carlton. He has now won 3 Novices and had a 2nd ammassing 23 points fron 6 outings. Definitely one to watch for the future.
28th July 2010Ryedale ShowPunch Town, the successful 3yo small Hunter by Primitive Proposal out of Louella Winona was champion young Hunter and went Supreme of Show as well.
28th July 2010North of England Summer showBilly and Joanne Moran had another good day. Their Primitive Proposal 2yo Look Twice was In Hand Riding Horse Champion and their Lord David S 3yo Close Contact was In hand Hunter Champion.
18th July 2010Eventing UpdatesPrimitive Proposal young horses are still doing well eventing this year. Dun With Class was 2nd in the BE90 Open at Sapey and Primitive Prospect was 11th in the Novice with a double clear.
Our 4yo mare A Paris Proposal was 9th in the 4yo class at Shelford with a double clear as well and Poppy XVIII
was 11th in the BE100.
15th July 2010Great Yorkshire ShowCongratulations to Jo Rooke her lovely broodmare, Floribunda won the small Hunter broodmare class and her foal, Mrs Whistlehead by Primitive Star won her class and was reserve Champion.
A foal by Primitive Proposal was 2nd in the small hunters and he had a 2nd in the lightweight Hunter foals and Harlow Hill also by Proposal was 2nd in the 3yo fillies.
13th July 2010Cool Mountain joins the British team for the WEGWe are delighted to hear that Cool Mountain has been selected for the british team for the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky. Congratulations to William Fox Pitt and Mrs Teresa Stopford-Sackville, Cool Mountains owner.
Cool Mountain is by Primitive Rising out of Icelolly and was bred by Mrs Pilkington. We have a half sister to Cool Mountain called Nomadam who is scanned in foal to Primitive Rising for 2011.
Out of interest another member of the squad Jakata, ridden by Piggy French is by Abdullah, a T.B stallion originally owned by Louella Stud and later sold on to Ireland.
1st July 2010Primitive Prospect wins at Stratford HillsPrimitive Prospect won the Novice sec J at Stratford Hills on his dressage score of 31.5. This lovely 6yo by Primitive Proposal was bred by Louella out of Louella Iona (Louella Inschallah II) and is ridden by Piggy French. He has continued on good form with two 2nds at Purston Manor and Upton House, both double clears as well. He now has 17 BEpoints.
25th June 2010The Royal Highland ShowLouella bred horses had a good day in the In hand Hunters yesterday.
Billy Morans Look Ahead by Primitive Proposal won the foal class.
Southills Spook by Primitive Proposal won the 2yo geldings and Harlow Hill also by Proposal was 2nd in the 3yo fillies

24th June 2010Derbyshire Festival of showingWell done to Tigerlily who was the Champion Hunter at Derbyshire Festival of Showing. She was bred by ourselves by The Outlaw (Criminal Law x Demon Spring) out of Louella Java (Louella Gandolpho x Miss Melinda, T.B by Garnered)
We sold her as a foal to Billy and Joanne Moran.
Her Primitive Proposal foal won the foal class and another Primitive Proposal horse called Southills Spook won the Hunter 2yo class.
7th June 2010Bramham Event Horse Youngstock ClassesLouella sired horses did well again in the Bramham Event horse young stock classes. True Destiny,a lovely T.B by Denounce won the 3yo colts/geldings and Georgetown II and Rocky Romance were 3rd and 4th, both were by Primitive Proposal. Proposal was well represented in a lot of the classes, Attractive Proposition was 4th in the yearling colts/geldings, he had 4th and 5th place in the 2yo geldings with Dappa Dan and Look Twice and he had a 4th place with Harlow Hill in the 3yo fillies. Congratulations to all their connections.
2nd June 2010Burleigh young event horse finalCongratulations to Ann Staley, her lovely gelding Priors Park Premonition by Primitive Proposal has qualified for the 4yo Burleigh young event horse final at the qualifying event at Hambleton Show.
1st June 2010Updates from the County Shows.Harlow Hill by Primitive Proposal and owned by Billy and Joanne Moran won her class and was Champion Hunter youngstock at Northumberland County.
Close Contact a 3yo by Lord David S was Sport Horse Champion and Res. Hunter Champion at Hambleton Show.
A Primitive Proposal foal owned by Anne Staley won the Hunter foal class at Newark and Notts.
Comberton Cachet, a yearling filly by Primitive proposal won the small riding horse youngstock class and was reserve champion at Devon County.
25th April 2010Cool Mountain wins the Rolex 4* at LexingtonWilliam Fox Pitt and the 10yo Primitive Rising gelding had a brilliant win finishing on their dressage score. This was Cool Mountains 1st attempt at a 4* and what a debut!! He didn't put a foot wrong. He is half brother to our mare Nomadam who has just had a cracking colt foal by Primitive Proposal.
Congratulations to William Fox Pitt, his owner Mrs Stopford-Sackville and his breeder Mrs Pilkington.

5th April 2010Burnham Market InternationalLouella Horses did rather well at Burnham Market International over the weekend despite the awful weather. Primitive Roc by Primitive Star was 2nd in the Novice with his new rider Lucy Kemplay. Cool Mountain (Primitive Rising x Icelolly) half sisiter to our mare Nomadam was 2nd in the advanced and will soon be heading to Kentucky for the 4*.
Rawhide II, also by Primitive Rising out of our mare Lucy Blue was 10th in the CIC* with his new rider Lawrence Hunt and Picasso by Inschallah II was 9th in the CIC***
5th April 2010Himalayan trail wins againThe 11 yo by Nomadic Way won another Handicap chase at Carlisle. It looks likely that he will now be entered in the Scottish Grand National.
29th March 2010SHB Spring ShowLouella bred horses had a good start to the showing season at the Sport Horse Breeding in the North West spring show.
Billy & Jo Morans Look Twice was the 2yo winner and Sport Horse Young stock Champion. Close Contact, their Lord David gelding was 2nd in the 3yo class and a Denounce gelding owned by Nikki Hazelett was 3rd.
7th March 2010Big Fella Thanks favourite for the Grand NationalBIG FELLA THANKS is Paddy Power's new 8-1 favourite (from 16) for the John Smith's Grand National at Aintree next month after beating better-fancied stablemate Pasco at Newbury on Saturday.
BIG FELLA THANKS is by Primitive Rising and was bred by Richard Wilding.He was 6th in last years Grand National so lets hope he can do better this year.
15th February 2010Another Rainbow High winnerReal Treasure bred by Louella by Rainbow High out of a Primitive Rising mare won the TOTESSPORTS.COM Maiden Hurdle at Exeter yesterday. This 6 yr old filly is trained by Kim Bailey and has had 1 win and 2 seconds from 3 starts, so definitely one to watch.
26th January 2010Primitive Rising - leading sire of 7yo eventers in 2009British eventing have published their stallion analysis for 2009 and Primitive Rising was the leading sire of 7yo eventers in 2009.
We were really pleased to see that our sport horse stallion Primitive Star seems to be following in his fathers footsteps. He was 12th in the top 50 sires of 6yo eventers in 2009 from his first crop of foals.
Primitive Rising was 6th in the Top 50 of all time sires other Louella Stallions in the list were Rapid Pass at 30th, Louella Inschallah II at 35th and Criminal Law at 40th.
22nd January 2010Rainbow High winnerThe Rainbow Hunter by Rainbow High and bred by Louella won his first race over hurdles, the turf tv handicap hurdle at Wincanton on saturday. He was one of the favourites and he won strongly on the heavy ground.
10th January 2010Louella Success at the British Breeders AwardsWe were thrilled to be invited to the British Breeders Awards held in London at the weekend. Our broodmare Louella Primitive's Posy was the leading Event Dam in the BEF Futurity series 2008/2009. Posy is a full sister to our stallion Primitive Star.

11th November 2009Another Nomadic Way Winner.Treehouse, a 6yo gelding by Nomadic Way won the Kier Handicap Chase at Carlisle yesterday by 23/4 lengths.
30th October 2009Louella horses in the BE Top 100 HorsesIt was great to see a few Louella bred horses in the 2009 Top 100 event horses. 8th was Kings Temptress by Primitive Rising. 32nd was Cool Mountain again by Primitive Rising. In 60th place was Special Attorney by Criminal Law and 63rd was Chill Out Bob who is by a little T.B stallion we used to stand called Steanard Boy.
30th October 2009Another Nomadic Way Winner!The 6yo BIRCH HILL BEDOUIN by Nomadic way won The John Smith Maiden National Hunt Race at Newcastle. This was only his second race under rules.
26th October 2009Rainbow High WinnerSimply Blue, the 5yo by Rainbow High won a Handicap hurdle at Wincanton on Sunday. He was carrying the second top weight of 11 stone 7 pounds.
Another son of Rainbow High, The Rainbow Hunter was 3rd in his first race under rules, a novice hurdle at Wincanton.
21st October 2009SHB Stallion GradingWe are thrilled to announce that our stallion Primitive Proposal has successfully passed the stallion grading with Sport Horse Breeding (GB).
I would like to say thank you to Billy Moran for showing him for me at the grading and J P Sheffield for doing a fabulous job of getting him ready for the grading and riding him on the day.
Mares owners with SHB service vouchers will now be able to redeem them against Primitive Proposal's stud fee from 2010.
12th October 2009Arlington ParkBilly and Joanne Moran's lovely 5yo mare Arlington Park has been graded as a head stud book mare with SHB and has won a Top 10 mare award winning a £500 service Voucher. Arlington Park is by Primitive Proposal out of Louella Nellie and was bred by Louella Stud. She has won numerous in hand championships in cluding suprme at The Royal highland and is now winning as a Lightweight broodmare with her 1st foal at foot.
4th October 2009Louella Horses had a good day at Oasby ODEThe Louella homebred 7yo Nomad Rush by Nomadic Way out of a Primitive Rising mare was 2nd in his Novice section.
Thats another fine Mess was also 2nd in his Novice section. he is by Criminal Law.
5yo Primitive Words Of Wisdom was 10th in a BE90, on only his 2nd outing. He is by Primitive Proposal.
7th September 2009Primitive Proposal wins The Hunter Show Progeny ClassWe had a good day at The National Hunter Show at Addington today. Our Thoroughbred Stallion Primitive Proposal won the Tom Philips Trophy as the winning sire of the Progeny Class which consists of groups of 3 horses being shown, all 3 by the same stallion. Primitive Proposal won this award in 2006 and was runner up in 2007 so it is fantastic for us to win it again.
I would like to thank the owners of the three horses in our group for taking part. The horses were Squirrels Edge, Redpath Proposition and George Town II
