26th January 2010Primitive Rising - leading sire of 7yo eventers in 2009British eventing have published their stallion analysis for 2009 and Primitive Rising was the leading sire of 7yo eventers in 2009.
We were really pleased to see that our sport horse stallion Primitive Star seems to be following in his fathers footsteps. He was 12th in the top 50 sires of 6yo eventers in 2009 from his first crop of foals.
Primitive Rising was 6th in the Top 50 of all time sires other Louella Stallions in the list were Rapid Pass at 30th, Louella Inschallah II at 35th and Criminal Law at 40th.
22nd January 2010Rainbow High winnerThe Rainbow Hunter by Rainbow High and bred by Louella won his first race over hurdles, the turf tv handicap hurdle at Wincanton on saturday. He was one of the favourites and he won strongly on the heavy ground.
10th January 2010Louella Success at the British Breeders AwardsWe were thrilled to be invited to the British Breeders Awards held in London at the weekend. Our broodmare Louella Primitive's Posy was the leading Event Dam in the BEF Futurity series 2008/2009. Posy is a full sister to our stallion Primitive Star.
29th December 2009New for 2010 - CAPTIVATEwe are pleased to announce we have a new stallion for 2010. He is a rising 3 yo Dutch warmblood called Captivate. He is a beautiful young horse, bred to jump, by UP TO DATE out of a sister to International showjumper and sire of jumpers MR BLUE.
He has lovely conformation, good actives paces and a amazing jump. He is full of quality with an exquisite head so will be an ideal event sire as well as breeding show jumpers and horses for the showring.

28th December 2009CalcuttaCalcutta will not be standing at Louella for 2010. His new owner Mrs Marie Barton-Hanson is standing him at Brakenspa Stud in Lincolnshire. Calcutta was a lovely stallion and we wish then all well.
6th December 2009Rainbow High 3yo sells for £60,000An unnamed 3 yo gelding by Rainbow High x Angie Marinie was the second top lot at the December Doncaster Breeze Ups. The three yr old was impressive in the morning work out, we had quite a few calls to the stud from people saying how well it had ran. It was bought by the Irish agent Gerry Hogan for Barry Connell and was sold for £60,000, over 75 times Rainbow's Stud Fee.

26th November 2009WBFSH Rankings 2009Primitive Rising is 8th in this years WBSFH (world breeding federation of sport horses) Eventing Sire Rankings. These rankings are generally accepted as an essential ingredient of the sport and breeding industry. Both riders and breeders highly value the Rankings as the standard for comparing the strength of both competitors and horses.
Mary Kings homebred mare Kings Temptress was 10th in the FEI WBSFH horse world rankings list for event horses. This lovely 9yo mare is by Primitive Rising out of an Louella Inschallah II mare.
11th November 2009Another Nomadic Way Winner.Treehouse, a 6yo gelding by Nomadic Way won the Kier Handicap Chase at Carlisle yesterday by 23/4 lengths.
30th October 2009Louella horses in the BE Top 100 HorsesIt was great to see a few Louella bred horses in the 2009 Top 100 event horses. 8th was Kings Temptress by Primitive Rising. 32nd was Cool Mountain again by Primitive Rising. In 60th place was Special Attorney by Criminal Law and 63rd was Chill Out Bob who is by a little T.B stallion we used to stand called Steanard Boy.
30th October 2009Another Nomadic Way Winner!The 6yo BIRCH HILL BEDOUIN by Nomadic way won The John Smith Maiden National Hunt Race at Newcastle. This was only his second race under rules.
26th October 2009Rainbow High WinnerSimply Blue, the 5yo by Rainbow High won a Handicap hurdle at Wincanton on Sunday. He was carrying the second top weight of 11 stone 7 pounds.
Another son of Rainbow High, The Rainbow Hunter was 3rd in his first race under rules, a novice hurdle at Wincanton.
21st October 2009SHB Stallion GradingWe are thrilled to announce that our stallion Primitive Proposal has successfully passed the stallion grading with Sport Horse Breeding (GB).
I would like to say thank you to Billy Moran for showing him for me at the grading and J P Sheffield for doing a fabulous job of getting him ready for the grading and riding him on the day.
Mares owners with SHB service vouchers will now be able to redeem them against Primitive Proposal's stud fee from 2010.
12th October 2009Arlington ParkBilly and Joanne Moran's lovely 5yo mare Arlington Park has been graded as a head stud book mare with SHB and has won a Top 10 mare award winning a £500 service Voucher. Arlington Park is by Primitive Proposal out of Louella Nellie and was bred by Louella Stud. She has won numerous in hand championships in cluding suprme at The Royal highland and is now winning as a Lightweight broodmare with her 1st foal at foot.
4th October 2009Louella Horses had a good day at Oasby ODEThe Louella homebred 7yo Nomad Rush by Nomadic Way out of a Primitive Rising mare was 2nd in his Novice section.
Thats another fine Mess was also 2nd in his Novice section. he is by Criminal Law.
5yo Primitive Words Of Wisdom was 10th in a BE90, on only his 2nd outing. He is by Primitive Proposal.
1st October 2009Another win for Rubeus Hagrid IIThis talented 5yo gelding by Primitive Proposal can add another win to his tally. He won the 5yo class at Moreton Morell (2) and is now off to the Lycetts British Eventing Young Horse Championships. His rider Ginny Turnbull describes him as 'Mr Consistent.' We wish them both good luck for the championships.
21st September 2009Rubeus Hagrid II wins againThe 5yo Rubeus Hagrid II ridden by Ginny Turnbull and owned by Ric Beauchamp won again at Burnham Market this weekend, He won the BE100 which is his 3rd win this year.
15th September 2009Primitive Star sires the winner of the loose Jumping.Primitive Star has again sired the winner of the Loose jumping at this years National Hunter show. The winner was the 3 yo filly Independent Breeze owned and bred by Lynne Hirons of Draycott House Horse Trials. Independent Spirit, the full brother to Independent Breeze won the same class in 2007. He is now eventing succesfully, already placed in a Novice as a 5 yr old so lets hope Independent Breeze goes the same way.
10th September 2009Sport Horse ChampionWell done to Mr and Mrs Carter. Their lovely 2yo, George Town III by Primitive Proposal was Sport Horse youngstock Champion at The National Hunter Show. He was also Best British Bred Horse.
7th September 2009Primitive Proposal wins The Hunter Show Progeny ClassWe had a good day at The National Hunter Show at Addington today. Our Thoroughbred Stallion Primitive Proposal won the Tom Philips Trophy as the winning sire of the Progeny Class which consists of groups of 3 horses being shown, all 3 by the same stallion. Primitive Proposal won this award in 2006 and was runner up in 2007 so it is fantastic for us to win it again.
I would like to thank the owners of the three horses in our group for taking part. The horses were Squirrels Edge, Redpath Proposition and George Town II

30th August 2009Cool Mountain wins 3* at BlairWe were so pleased to see that Cool Mountain by Primitive Rising won the International advanced at Blair today. This young horse is Half sister to our mare Nomdam who is in foal to Primitive Proposal for next year.
31st July 2009BEF futurity ResultsOur 2 yr old Filly by Denounce, Primitive Delphine was awarded an ELITE premium, she was champion eventing 2 yr old and was the highest scoring eventer of the day from all age groups at Arena UK yesterday.
Redpath Premonition a lovely 3 yr old by Primitive Proposal was champion 3yr old eventer at Plumpton. He was also champion sport horse at Kent County.
18th June 2009Primitive Star winners.Starlight IV by Primitive Star won her novice section at Great Tew and Primitive Stardust was 2nd in the Event horse youngstock classes at Bramham.
17th June 2009Louella Winners at the County Shows.Billy and Joanne Moran are again flying the Louella Flag for us at the county Shows for which we are very grateful. Their Hack / sporthorse broodmare Smart Thinking was Champion at Bath and West and Champion at Bramham in the Event horse breeding. Smart Thinking was bred by Louella by Primitive Rising out of Louella India (1/2 sister to Primitive Proposal)
Billy and Joanne had the Champion and reserve champion in the hunter youngstock at Northumberland county, the 2yo Punch Town by Primitive Proposal out of Louella Winona was champion and Squirrels Edge also by Proposal was the 3 yr old winner and res. Champion.
Proposal was well represented in the event youngstock classes at Bramham. Look Twice was 2nd in the Yearlings, Rocky Romance was 2nd in the 2 yr olds and Squirrels Edge won the 3 yr olds.
21st April 2009More Louella WinnersThe Rainbow Hunter, 5 yr old by Rainbow High won his 2nd point to point at Paxford, North Cotswold meet on Easter Monday. Rich Nomad by Nomadic Way won the Open Maiden point to point at Eyton on Severn on the same day.
We had 2 winners at Eland Lodge on 18th April. Rubeus Hagrid II by Primitive Proposal won the BE100 (sec J) on his dressage score of 27 and Primitives Pansy bred by Louella by Primitive Rising out of Louella Lucy Blue won the Novice(sec E)
Isla Blyge, also bred by Louella by Primitive Rising out of Louella Java won the intermediate at South of England. She can add this win to her other intermediate win at Weston Park and her 3 top 5 placing from her 5 outings this year. Isla Blyge and her rider Daisy Dick are in great form this year, we have a 3 yr old half sister to Isla Blyge that we have just broken so fingers crossed she turns out as good.
4th April 2009Big Fella ThanksCongratulations to Big Fella Thanks and his Jockey, Christian Williams who had a terrific in this years Grand National and finished 6th. Big Fella Thanks is a 7 yr old novice by Primitive Rising and is definitely one to look out for.
2nd April 2009More Louella winners!Criminal Misfit won the BE90 open at Great Witchington and Another Fine Mess was 6th in the Novice. Both horses are by Criminal Law.
Double Crown,a 2 yr old by Primitive Star was Champion Hunter at the Royal Northern Agricultural Show in Aberdeen. Independent Spirit IV, also by Primitive Star was 3rd in the BE100 at Draycott House.
6th March 2009Rainbow High has another winner!Simply Blue,a 5 yr old gelding by Rainbow High won the Steven and Roy Hanney Memorial Hurdle at Wincanton on March 5th beating Benetwood ridden by champion jockey A P McCoy. Congratulations to Simply Blue and his connections.
